Some more notes on the Stein MSS.

Many annotations by Bhaṭṭa Haraka. This MS has been known to me since 1891, when I had it copied. This text of the Nīl. is the best known to me, and should serve as a basis for a future edition” [M.A.S]

MS 84; d.15; ccxxviii Nīlamatapurāṇa; bound in tooled red leather; ff. 192; only the versos are inscribed; ll. 12; akṣaras 19; 19th cent. burnished paper; Bold Devanāgarī; 23.5 × 21.2cm; inscribed area 16.7 × 21.2cm; Complete; some rubrication of titles; folios numered in top left corner on the rectos; variae lectiones given in the margin secunda manu in black ink, deletions with yellow gouache, occasional notes in red ink; Prefaced: “This copy made in September, 1889, at Śrīnagar from an old paper Manuscript in the possession of Pandit Mahadâbha son of Pt. Sadrâma Kaul and nephew of Pt. Sâhibrâm. This Codex contains, besides the Panchatantra and the Châṇakîya Râjanîti. The copy was collated by Pandit Govinda Kaul and Pt. Sahajabhaṭṭa. Copied from an incomplete Śāradā paper MS., about 200 years old, brought from Śrīnagar through Pandit Mukund Ram. Copy prepared at Lahore under Pandit Mukundram's superintendence in April-May 1892.
