असंभाव्यम् ॥

हृदापदः परित्यक्ता निर्व्याला मलयद्रुमाः ।
अमालिन्यकृतो दीपाः श्रीपात्रं सन्तु साधवः ॥
साधूनां लुब्धता काचिदचिन्त्यैव तथा हि ये ।
परेषामेव गृह्णन्ति गुणान्भूरिगुणा अपि ॥ (कीर्तिकौमुदी १.३०−३१)

May heartaches be forgotten,
may the Malaya-range's [sandalwood] trees be free from snakes,
may lamps produce no soot,
—may the good be worthy recipients of wealth.
The good do have a peculiar, incomprehensible greed,
for though they are replete with virtues
they appreciate/steal the virtues of others.
