doṣasvarūpam ajñātvā & tadrāhityaṃ kathaṃ labhet ||39
anindyatvād adoṣatvād & doṣo nāsti tadāśrayaḥ |
ato ‘ṣṭarūpo doṣo hi & nāsty atra śrutimānataḥ ||40

vidyate hy aṣṭadoṣo hi & pratyakṣeṇa pramādataḥ |
ke te doṣāḥ sadāviṣṭāḥ & pratyakṣeṇa balīyasā ||41
iti praśnakṛte j[ñ]ātum & uttaraṃ jyeṣṭhamānataḥ |
ye te tadāśritā doṣā & asṛtaḥ picchilo ‘śuciḥ ||42
kvathitaḥ śuṣkato dagdho & virūpo nartujas tathā |
svarūpalakṣaṇaṃ caiṣāṃ & kathyate kramaśo guṇam ||43

% annagatadoṣavicārasya prayojananirūpaṇam

kiṃ tasya hāsarūpasya & vicārasya prayojanam |
payastvāt tyajyate sadbhir & dravatve tu viśāradaiḥ ||44
idaṃ sadoṣaṃ nirdoṣam & idaṃ ceti vivekitum |
vikārārthaṃ na doṣeṇa & yuktadravyaṃ prayatnataḥ ||45
kiṃ tv aduṣṭavaśaṃkartur & etad eva prayojanam |
annasya nāsti vā doṣā & na bhavanti kadācana ||46
te tasya saṃbhavanty eva & pācakasya pramādataḥ |
krameṇa vakṣye doṣāṇām & aṣṭāṇāṃ lakṣaṇaṃ guṇam ||47

aśrāvitayavāguṃ yad & annam asṛtam ucyate |
tad annaṃ yena bhuktaṃ cet & tasya vyādhikaraṃ bhavet ||48

annam āśrayate jīrṇam & atipākena paicchilam |
tad bhaktaṃ bhujyate yena & taṃ tyajed audaro ‘nalaḥ ||49

kṛmikeśādisaṃyuktaṃ & yad annam aśuci smṛtam |

  1. I would like to get some clarifications regarding the authorship of the text 'Pakadarpana', which is said to be composed by a mythological character Nala. This is clear that the authorship of this text will be a topic for much debate and on a thorough study of this text, it is evident that the work is composed during a much later period compared to Mahabharata. I would like to know whether there is any reference to Pakadarpana in any Sanskrit texts also. Additionally, I would like to clarify whether a text of such authorship will be subject to criticism regarding its merit. These were some of the problems raised on the pre-submission presentation phase of my work. Hoping to hear from you soon.
